Head Start Hosts Its First Public Health Fair

March 26, 2009 – The Department of Human Services Head Start and Nutrition programs, in conjunction with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Department of Education Special Nutrition program, will host Health Fair 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Friday, March 27, at the Head Start Sugar Estate Complex, according to a press release from DHR.
The public is invited to take advantage of free blood sugar and pressure screenings, HIV tests, height and weight relativity tests, body-sculpting demonstrations, and a host of workshops on diet and exercise including nutrition, food portion control and planting seedlings. Recorded information will be kept confidential, and participants will have an opportunity to follow up with healthcare providers for future consultations.
