Boys & Girls Club and St. Dunstan's Alumni Team Up for Golf Tournament

March 27, 2009 – The Alumni Group of the former St. Dunstan's Episcopal School Alumni has selected the Boys & Girls Club of St. Croix as its recipient of the Annual Golf Classic fundraiser, which will be held on at 9 a.m., Friday, July 3, at the Buccaneer Hotel.
First lady Cecile de Jongh, an alumna of the school, has accepted the role of honorary chair for the event. "It is a privilege and honor to be associated with an organization such as the Boys & Girls Club, which as an American institution has made major contributions to the U.S. Virgin Islands' community," she said.
Vaughn Audain, a member of the 1984 graduate class, expressed his enthusiasm upon learning of the partnership. "The Boys & Girls club was instrumental in the molding and development of many of our lives while growing up. The club provided a safe haven, while instilling values and aspirations to dream and achieve all our goals. In light of the current economic environment, this club is extremely important to the community, especially the younger generation. As a community we need to preserve the hopes and dreams of the youth in our community, " said Audain.
Julie Landreneau, the current executive director of the organization, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a partner with the group, saying, "At the Boys and Girls Club we are so excited about the Alumni's involvement and are truly honored to be the recipient of their efforts. This partnership could not have occurred at a more appropriate time. With the club's operating budget set at $500,000 and the kick off of our annual campaign scheduled for the later part of April, this partnership allows us to be one step closer to reaching our goals."
