Art in the Garden Exhibit Features Local Painting Group

March 25, 2009 – St. George Village Botanical will host an exhibit by the Palletteers of St. Croix at Art in the Garden, an exhibit and sale of original paintings, prints and cards, on March 28-29.
The Palletteers are a group of 25 women who like to paint and have been getting together once a week year-round since the early 1990s to paint for two to three hours outdoors at a different location every week. Some of the work to be shown in was painted on location, but many of the artists will also show work done in a studio or at home.
The fundraising event will offer something for every pocketbook and will start with an artists' reception from 6-9 p.m., on Saturday, March 28, for $20. On Sunday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., for $5, in addition to the exhibit and sale, some Palletteers will be found painting on the grounds and there will be displays by the Hibiscus, Orchid and Bonsai Societies.
Two raffles will be held: the original artwork for the event's poster by Sondra Catts, and two roundtrip tickets to St. Thomas from Seaborne Airlines.
The Palletteers are Virginia Anderson, Diane Axelrod, Janet Bell, Margaret Berggren, Mary Bodio, P. Jane Cameron, Sondra Catts, Karol Fenner, Susan Filene. Anne K. Ingalsbe, Elizabeth Keith, Melissa E. Keyes, Kate Kroska, Alexis Lavine, Freda Truman Logan, Marilyn Phillips May, Eleanor Miles, Carol O'Toole, Kirsten Olsen, Jeanne Peil, Carolyn Roblyer, Leslie Rickenbach, Brenda Brown Taylor, Emy Thomas and Alma Winkfield.
