Boys & Girls Club of the Virgin Islands to Re-open

March 23, 2009 – The newly confirmed Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Virgin Islands announces the re-opening of its Christiansted club on Monday, April 6. Through volunteer and grant writing efforts, the club was awarded a 21st Century grant for $125,000, which will enable the doors to open for a restricted after-school program. Beyond Visions Foundation was instrumental in writing this grant. Additionally, Generation Now, a local organization of young professionals, will host a mentoring program Saturday mornings for eight weeks beginning Saturday, April 25.
The club is also launching its annual campaign in May with the goal of raising $500,000 for operating expenses and much needed repairs at all three club sites. The board has partnered with DNS, a nationally recognized firm that specializes in annual campaigns for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, to achieve its fundraising goals.
