Forum Hosts Author/Journalist Mark Bowden

March 20, 2009 – Are America’s Newspapers Dying? In the past two weeks major newspapers in Denver and Seattle have closed down. What are the causes? Are there solutions? Mark Bowden will speak about the demise of printed newspapers and the potential ramifications at 8 p.m., on Thursday, April 2, at Antilles School's Prior-Jollek Hall. He is a national correspondent for the Atlantic Monthly and wrote about this phenomenon in the January 2009 issue. Bowden has written books about subjects as varied as the 1958 NFL Championship, the hunt for drug lord Pablo Escobar and the Iranian hostage crisis. His best-known book is probably "Black Hawk Down," for which he also wrote the movie screenplay.
