Sunset Jazz to Present Siete Son

From 6-8 p.m., on Friday, March 20, Sunset Jazz will present Siete Son led by Rivert Diaz, a native of Cuba, who was classically trained as an opera singer. Since moving to St. Croix, he has gathered an impassioned collective of musicians from around the globe. They play an eclectic fusion of music that is predominantly Cuban, uniquely Caribbean and definitely funky. Mixing son, hip-hop, jazz, salsa, timba, calypso and guaguanco, they create a titillating experience full of vibes and soul.
Siete Son includes: Rivert Diaz, musical director, lead singer, guitar from Cuba; Adriana Veliz, lead singer from Venezuala; Cedric 'Cedo' McGregor Bain, congas from Trinidad; and Russell Slatton, bass guitar, singer from the United States; and Stanford James, steel pan from Trinidad.
Seating is on terra firma, so be certain to bring folding chairs or blankets. FEDA will have its drink concession going, with proceeds helping to offset the costs of the concert, so please be cool: no coolers. Other sponsors include FirstBank VI, The Beachside Cafe' @ Sand Castle on the Beach Hotel, and WTJX/Channel 12, which assists every month through their video-taping of Sunset Jazz, which airs on Channel 12, Saturday nights at 8 p.m. As a reminder, WVIQ/Sunny 99.5 FM is the official radio station of Sunset Jazz.
