Police Seek 'Armed and Dangerous' Man

March 18, 2009 — Police on St. Croix are asking the public to be on the look-out for Hector Luis Mercado also known as Jesus Rivera Carmona.
According to Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives, Mercado is wanted for a string of armed robberies recently committed in various parts of St. Croix.
Mercado is a 28-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet, nine inches tall, and weighing 160 pounds. He has black hair that is sometimes worn in braids past his shoulders. He has brown eyes and a light complexion.
Mercado has a tattoo of a cross and snake/dragon on his right arm and various tattoos on other parts of his body.
He frequents Estate Whim, Estate Profit and JFK housing community.
Mercardo has a criminal history that includes assaults and possession of unlicensed firearms.
He is wanted for questioning regarding a reckless endangerment in the first degree that occurred on Jan. 26.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives advise the public this suspect is armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is urged to call emergency 911 immediately.
The public is also reminded that anyone harboring this suspect will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
