Program Seeks Nine V.I. Teens for Stateside Conservation Conference

March 11, 2009 — V.I. high school students have one week to apply for a chance to attend an all-expenses-paid conference this summer in Tifton, Ga.
The deadline is March 20 for students between the ages of 15 and 18 to submit their applications to attend the 2009 Natural Resources Conservation Workshop June 7 through 11.
The local contact for the conference applications is the V.I. Resource Conservation and Development Council through a grant from the V.I. Department of Agriculture's Urban Forestry Program.
The workshop, according to the council's news release, is an all-inclusive, fun natural resources and science camp, and the package includes airfare to Georgia, food, lodging and all educational materials.
There are nine slots available, and as of Tuesday only three students had applied.
The information packet can be downloaded at the council's website, or those interested can send an email to Julie Wright or Faye Williams to receive the application forms via email attachment.
