French Artist Expresses Hope Through Art

March 9, 2009 – Danica Art Gallery will showcase the French artist Isabelle Picard's recent artworks entitled, "It's a Beautiful World." The exhibit will open on Art Thursday, from 5-8 p.m., March 12. The exhibition will be displayed until April 7.
Picard's exhibition will include original paintings, hand-painted shoes, headboards and a President Obama-inspired "Hope" flag. She feels hopeful since Barack Obama became the 44th president of the United States of America.
Originally from the south of France, Picard has been a resident of St Croix for the past eight years and is a mural artist by profession. Her work can be seen in private homes and public buildings throughout Florida, Key West, Palm Beach, St Croix, St John and in the south of France. Picard's style is whimsical, colorful, and can be called Modern Caribbean Folk Art.
Picard's inspiration comes from her love of this colorful planet, the people of the Caribbean, the movement of nature, tropical architecture as well as her love for naïve painters from Haiti, Australia, Russia and Africa.
For more information about the exhibition, call the gallery at 719-6000.
