March 6, 2009 – Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen congratulated Brigadier General Renaldo Rivera on his promotion to Major General in the Virgin Islands National Guard. Major General Rivera was promoted during a pinning ceremony at Government House in St. Croix on Friday.
"This is a tremendous honor and I am proud to join Gov. John P. deJongh, the men and women of the Virgin Islands National Guard and the territory of the Virgin Islands in commending Major General Rivera for his leadership and his honorable service," Christensen said.
Christensen said the federal recognition is also a fitting tribute to the exemplary service our men and women of the Virgin Islands National Guard have always and will continue to provide, both at home and abroad.
"The Virgin Islands owes a debt of gratitude to these courageous men and women who have answered the call to serve," Christensen said.
