DanceBrazil Teaches Master Class at Reichhold Center

March 4, 2009 – The Reichhold Center for the Arts will sponsor a free dance class taught by members of the DanceBrazil troupe at 6 p.m., Friday, March 13, on the Reichhold stage. The company will teach dances developed from the African influence in Brazil such as samba, Orixas dances (from the candomblé religion), maculelé (a dance developed in the sugar cane fields performed with sticks) as well as the most current Brazilian "street dances." The evening will include a demonstration of the capoeira.
Students of dance programs in the territory as well as members of the general community interested in learning Afro-Brazilian dance movement are welcome to attend. The class is limited to the first 40 people who sign up. Reservations are required. To sign up call 693-1563.
DanceBrazil will perform at Reichhold Center at 8 p.m., on Saturday, March 14. Tickets are $52, $38 and $28, and are available at Modern Music, Urban Threadz, V.I. Bridal and Tuxedo, Essentric Shoes, Island Video (Nisky), UVI Bookstore and the Reichhold Center Box office at 693-1559.
