Luxury Ship To Make Two St. Croix Calls

Feb. 13, 2009 — The luxury passenger liner Journey, owned by Azamara Cruises, will make two stops on St. Croix this month.
Journey will arrive at Frederiksted at 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, and depart at 6 p.m. The small, deluxe ship carries 710 passengers and 390 crew members, and boasts exceptional service and exotic itineraries.
The passengers will have the opportunity to attend the 38th annual Agriculture and Food Fair, which runs through the weekend. "We are delighted that ship passengers will have the chance to experience our rich food culture at the largest agricultural exposition in the U.S. Virgin Islands," said Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty.
The ship’s crew will announce the event to passengers onboard, and once they disembark, the St. Croix Department of Tourism staff will provide additional information at the pier and at an onboard hospitality desk.
The ship is scheduled to depart at 6 p.m. But it won't be gone long. Journey is slated to return to St. Croix at 8 a.m. Feb. 27, and depart at 6 p.m. On both days passengers will be greeted on the pier by live musical entertainment and Department of Tourism greeters distributing island information, Cruzan Rum samples and USVI-branded souvenirs.
These two stops will bring the number of St. Croix cruise ship calls to 10 since the first of the year. Further information about the St. Croix cruise ship schedule is available by contacting Alvin Milligan, cruise ship activities director, at (340) 772-0357.
