Feb. 9, 2009 — Gov. John deJongh Jr. has nominated three people to fill some open spots on the St. Croix Hospital Board, the Government Employees' Service Commission Board and V.I. Public Finance Authority Board of Directors.
Attorney Kye Walker has been nominated for a three-year term on the St. Croix Hospital board and, if confirmed by the Senate, would replace Rita de Chabert Schuster, whose term has expired. Walker is currently senior counsel and director of the chairman's office for Stanford Financial Group Global Management, and has previously served as managing counsel for the V.I. Legislature. She was also an associate in the law firm of Rohn and Cameron and the former law clerk of then-V.I. Superior Court Judge Maria Cabret.
Joyce Wensel-Bailey has been tapped by deJongh to fill a vacancy on the Government Employees' Service Commission. She is currently the president of South Bay Partners, a financial-services company on St. Thomas, and has also served as the company's chief financial officer. Wensel-Bailey also owns a certified public accounting firm and has worked at the V.I. Telephone Co. and the accounting firm of Brammer, Chasen and O'Connell.
Keith O'Neale Jr. has been nominated for a four-year term on the PFA's board of directors and, if confirmed by the Senate, he will fill one of the open St. Croix district slots. O'Neale currently owns a business on St. Croix and has experience with labor laws and practices and human resources management.
The three nominees are "distinguished citizens" who have been nominated to serve based on their achievements, experience and integrity, according to deJongh.
"They will bring a diverse set of perspectives and voices to bear in the formulation and evaluation of the important works of these boards and commissions," the governor said in a statement Monday.
