Grow and Learn Will Investigate Cacao

The St. George Village Botanical Gardens presents Grow and Learn – Explorations With Cacao from 3-5 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Cocoa and its history can be traced back to the Mayan civilizations. Come grow and learn about the fascinating ecology and history of this plant with Marilyn Chakroff of the Department of Agriculture. Participants will visit a cacao plant on the garden grounds, peel and grind up cacao seeds, taste-test Aztec and Spanish versions of chocolate and, best of all, make their own mystery chocolate snack.
The cost is $5 for members and $15 for non-members (become a member at the event and save).
To register, call 692-2874.
