UVICELL Offers Taxi and Tour Certification Course

Jan. 14, 2009 – The Taxi and Tour Certification Program will be open to taxi and tour operators who wish to join their peers in receiving certification. It will be held from 6-8 p.m., starting Thursday, Feb. 5, on St. Thomas, according to a press release from the University of the Virgin Islands' Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center.
The six-week program educates students on customer service, V.I. history and culture, points of interest and presentation skills. The training will cost $250 and includes materials. Students are required to pass a 100-question exam and put the presentation skills acquired in class to use in order to receive certification. Upon successful completion, they will receive certificates of completion and certification identification cards.
The program was developed by UVICELL and is endorsed by the USVI Hotel and Tourism Association, and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.
Interested students should register by Wednesday, Jan. 28, by calling the UVICELL Center at 693-1100 or visiting: cell.uvi.edu

The schedule is based on load demand and subject to change. 1:00 am – 3:00 am Feeders 5A, 6A and 8A will be impacted | 3:00 am – 5:00 am Feeders 10B, 6B and 7B will be impacted | 5:00 am – 7:00 am Feeders 8B, 7E and 9C will be impacted | 8:00 am - 10:00 am Feeders 9E, 7C and 6A will be impacted. Once again, all of the timeframes listed are estimates and designed to help with planning and preparation.
