Brief: Human Services Needs Toy Donations

Dec. 4, 2008 — With the holidays fast approaching, the Department of Human Services is asking St. Thomas residents to donate toys for its annual Christmas Gift Drive, which will start Friday and run until Dec. 19.
The toys will be given to foster children and children from low-income families served by the department, according to Human Services spokeswoman Monife Stout.
"There's no limit on how many presents people can bring," she said Thursday. "We're just asking for people to be as giving as they have been in the past. We're also asking that people indicate on the gift whether it is for a boy or girl, and the intended age group."
All presents can be dropped off at the Knud Hansen Complex in Hospital Ground, and left in "the box decorated like a present," Stout said.
Residents with questions about the donation drive can call Cherlyn Wattley at 774-4393.
