V.I. RC&D to Hold 2008 Annual Meeting at UVI St. Croix

Dec. 2, 2008 – The Virgin Islands Resource Conservation & Development Council Inc. (V.I. RC&D) will hold its 2008 Annual Business Meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the University of the Virgin Islands Great Hall on St. Croix. This yearly activity serves to share highlights of project initiatives and facilitate networking amongst members and guests.
V.I. RC&D is one of 375 RC&D councils across the country, part of a unique process that helps local people protect and develop their economic, natural and social resources in ways that improve their area's economy, environment and quality of life. It provides a way for Virgin Islanders to plan and implement projects that will make the islands a better place to live by bringing together people, needs, concerns, opportunities and solutions.
The organization offers many opportunities for residents to get involved and make things happen by providing options for members to initiate or participate in community development or conservation projects, which include anything from installing nature trails and farm ponds to supporting youth training in agriculture and natural resources. V.I. RC&D also provides training and networking opportunities to council members to enhance their leadership skills. To learn more about projects and activities, visit the Web site at www.usvircd.org
At this year's annual meeting, the board will present the council's accomplishments for the past year and host RC&D Member Leadership Development training. After the training, members will lead tours of two projects: the VIWMA Green House Program Rain Garden Demonstration and the Estate Adventure Nature Trail.
