Exam Applications for Corrections and Police Officers Due on December 5

Dec. 1, 2008 – The Director of the Division of Personnel Kenneth L. Hermon Jr. informs the general public that it has scheduled a territory-wide examination for corrections officers and police officers during the week of Dec. 15-19.
Qualifications to sit for the exam
1) A high school diploma from an accredited institution or a high school equivalency certificate
2) Proof of U.S. citizenship
3) Must be at least 20 years old
4) Valid driver's license or be able to qualify for a license
All interested candidates must sign up and submit a completed application package at the respective district office by 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5. Application packages can be obtained from the Division of Personnel, GERS Complex, 3rd floor, on St. Thomas; 3009 Orange Grove Shopping Center, Bays No. 6, 7, and 8, on St. Croix; or on the Web site.
Special note: Candidates who sat for the examination within the last two years and did not earn a passing score are encouraged to reapply since the division has transitioned to a new law enforcement testing instrument.
Additionally, applicants who have earned a degree in the following areas are waived from sitting the exam but are still required to meet all the other criteria for qualification: police science, criminal justice, criminology, forensic science, accounting, public administration and/or business administration.
