AWC to Hold "Shop for the Shelter" Day

St. Croix Animal Welfare Center (AWC) is asking the community to "shop 'til they drop" for the shelter from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Gallows Bay Hardware and Garden Center.
AWC staff will provide shoppers with a "wish list" of much needed supplies for the shelter facility. Shoppers can also learn more about their adoption program and meet some of the animals waiting for a home.
The St. Croix AWC is the only companion animal rescue center on island, and, in addition to adoptions, it provides animal control services; a low cost spay/neuter program in collaboration with local, private veterinarians; and humane educational outreach in St. Croix's schools.
"Shop for the Shelter is a great way for the community to support the animals of AWC," said adoptions director Liz Castro. "People can give us hands-on practical items that we need for day-to-day operations." For more information about Shop for the Shelter, call Liz Castro at 778-1650.
Volunteers for this and other AWC outreach initiatives are needed. Call Communications Director Gretchen Sherrill at 514-6326 to find out more. For information about AWC, go to: www.StCroixAWC.org
