Leona Idalia Johnson Dies at 83

Nov. 10, 2008 – Leona Idalia Johnson, also known as "Mother," of Work and Rest died on Nov. 4, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. She was 83 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Unita Georges; adopted daughter, Laurelleen Knight; stepdaughter, Emelda Jackson; sons: Elroy Harrison and Roland Johnson; stepsons: Rafael and Warren Johnson; grandchildren: Shermaine, Kacy, Kevin, Cleon, Jermaine and Ameen Harrison, Elise Georges-Lancaster, Tiffany Gaskill, Khanya Georges-Clark, Renee, Renise, Troy, Rodney, Rodell, Astrid, Rhisa and Randall Johnson, Rhea Johnson-Georges, ReyAnthony Plaskett, Laciba, Ivy and Kathleen Knight, Vicky Knight-Magras and Masia Henry; and 42 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by special friends: Lynnette Thomas, Yensenia Matthew, Sarah McBean, Brenda Gail Joseph, Rita Phillips, John Bell, Louisa Joseph, Sitnah Yarwood, Mrs. McFarlane and Maria Pinder; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 14, at Friedensthal Moravian Church. Interment will be at the Moravian Cemetery, Christiansted.
Professional funeral arrangements are entrusted to James Memorial Funeral Home Inc.
