Brief: Military, Veterans Get Free Pass at Trunk Bay

Nov. 7, 2008 — U.S. military veterans and those on active duty will get into Trunk Bay Beach for free on Tuesday, Veterans Day, the Virgin Islands National Park superintendent said Friday.
Mark Hardgrove declared the Fee Free Day to honor "the sacrifice and service these men and women have made for our country, and for that we are grateful.”
Trunk Bay Beach is one of the most visited beaches on St. John, and is home to an underwater trail where swimmers are able to snorkel over the reef and read the plaques which identify coral and fish below.
Hardgrove urged visitors to Trunk Bay Beach during the Veterans Day weekend to ride safari taxis or carpool in order to avoid overcrowding in the Trunk Bay parking lot.
