Oct. 17, 2008 – Ismay R. Gillard Matthew, better known as "Ma," of Hidden Valley died on Oct. 10, at her residence. She was 95 years old.
She is survived by her sons: Lionel, Cyril, Rudolph and Yolanda Gillard; daughters: Yvonne Phillip, Sylvia Gillard and Carmen Gillard Chumney; grandchildren: Lonnie, Nathaniel, Michael, Jason, Kima Gillard and Cyril Gillard Jr., Alphonso Peets, Monell Phillip, Alex Brooks, Suelyn Kirkland, Shermel Francis, Sgt. Cyrilla Gillard Fowler and Captain Kenneth Fowler, Celestine McMahon, Rhona Thompson, Patrice Matthew, Charverne Chumney, Sgt. Charlito Chumney, Pvt. Vinnette Chumney and Chadiola Chumney; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by special sons: Ebbie, Carl Glasford, Jossie, Ramesh Walter, Biggies and Mack Weatherman, and Cornelius Brazer; special daughters: Shirley Knight, Arlene Robinson, Sandy Piper and Jackie Knight; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service from 10-11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Christchurch Methodist. Interment will be held at Springfield Cemetery, St. Kitts.
