Retention-Bonus Checks Ready for Retired Police Officers

Oct. 13, 2008 — If you are a retired police officer and are due a past retention bonus, your check is ready to be picked up at the Human Resources Department in both districts.
"The department has fulfilled the promise of past administrations and paid retention bonuses to officers that have been owed since 1981," said Police Commissioner James H. McCall in a new release from the V.I. Police Department. "All presently employed officers received this bonus; however, payment to some retirees was delayed as Human Resources researched the names of all retirees that were owed the money. Most of those checks have been delivered to the retired officers; however, some have not."
The total payout is more than a half-million dollars, and more than 50 checks or direct deposit stubs have not been collected by retired officers, McCall said.
If you are one of the retired officers who has not received your check yet, you can call the commissioner's office. Here are the retired officers whose checks have not been picked up:
