Fire Prevention Week Activities Scheduled

Oct. 1, 2008 – Fire Prevention Week is slated for Sunday, Oct. 5 through Saturday, Oct. 11. The following events have been planned to observe fire prevention:
Sunday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m. – Face to Face with Addie Ottley (WTJX-Channel 12)
3 p.m. – Parade from Cancryn School to Emancipation Garden
Monday, Oct. 6 – Open houses at all fire stations
Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Senior Citizens Day at Tutu Park Mall Center Court; Fire Safety handouts and information; blood pressure screening and other services by the Red Cross and St. Thomas Rescue
Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. to noon – Kids Jamboree at Winston Wells Ballpark, St. John; Love City Pan Dragons Steel Band; Customs K-9 Unit; Tommy Starfish; Smokey the Bear; snacks and beverages; fire safety tips; Alfonso's fire extinguisher demonstration; controlled burning of a wooden structure; DJ Percy
Thursday, Oct. 9 – Kids Jamboree on St. Croix; Open house displays: St. Thomas and St. John fire stations
Friday, Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. to noon – Kids Jamboree at Lionel Roberts Stadium; controlled burning of a wooden structure; Safety tips; Smokey the Bear; Tommy Starfish; Bouncers Bank; Customs K-9 Unit; BCB Pan Blazers; Spongebob Squarepants; Alfonso's fire extinguisher demonstration; Sebastian's majorettes
Saturday, Oct. 11 – Beach Party at Magens Bay beach.
