Weekend Festivities Mark Salvation Army Fund Drive

Sept. 24, 2008 — Charlotte Amalie will be filled with the rousing music of the Salvation Army Pendel Brass Band and Singers Saturday as it rings out at 10 a.m. at Emancipation Garden, followed by a march down Main Street to the Army headquarters.
The performance highlights the Army's three-day fund drive for renovation of its St. Thomas headquarters on lower Main Street.
Launching the festivities is a free welcome concert at the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel courtyard at 6 p.m. Friday with music.
After Saturday's concert and march, Addie Ottley will host a radiothon on WSTA starting at noon at the Army headquarters.
The 44-piece Pendel Brass Band is an internationally recognized group of musicians who perform worldwide. They played in the territory in May 2007 at the organization's 90th St. Thomas anniversary.
A fund-raiser concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God of Prophesy across from the Donoe Bypass. Tickets are $25 and can be picked up at the Army headquarters or at the door.
The weekend wraps up Sunday with a 9 a.m. service at the St. Thomas Reformed Church, followed by a 1 p.m. picnic at Magens Bay, Shed No. 2.
