The Governor has A plan to cut utility rates sometime in the future. But we have a problem now! If the utility rates are not brought in line with the national average, less then .20c per kwh (we pay .49c), then we will be in dire straights. Residents and business cannot handle the fifty percent increase WAPA and the Public Service Commission has given us in he last 6 months. We need action now!
If you are on Social Security, getting a thousand dollars a month, and a third of your money goes to WAPA, that does not give you enough left over to pay for groceries. What are we supposed to do? Take out our light bulbs and live in the dark? If you are in business, and your rent is $4,000 a month, and your WAPA bill is $8,200 a month, and you have to pay the government four percent of your gross, how can you afford to stay in business? Grocery stores and restaurants have high utility usage and narrow profit margins. They get to pay over .50c per kwh. They can't double the cost of their products. If the government can't afford to pay their WAPA bills, how can we? Please call the Governor's office and the Public Service Commission and make your voices heard. We need relief now!
