Brief: St. Croix Cruise Arrivals Extend into 2010

Aug. 22, 2008 — The resurgence of cruise-ship arrivals to St. Croix doesn't stop at the end of 2009: At least 37 cruise calls are already scheduled for 2010, and more could be on the way.
Most of the 2010 calls are from Royal Caribbean Cruises' brands, including the premium-class Azamara Cruises and Celebrity Cruises, and mid-price Royal Caribbean International ships.
Royal Caribbean International's 3,800-passenger Adventure of the Seas and 2,000-passenger Serenade of the Seas call on St. Croix 15 times between January and April.
Celebrity's 2,000-passenger Mercury and 2,000-passenger Summit make 10 calls between January and April, and Azamara's 718-passenger Journey calls three times from February to March. These are high-end ships that, many times, carry experienced cruisers willing to spend extra for an above-average experience.
Holland America Line's 1,300-passenger Maasdam will make 12 calls acros the course of 2010. The cruise line specializes in passengers at least 55 years old who are also willing to spend more for a top-dollar cruise.
Missing from the 2010 list of arrivals is Disney Cruise Line, which makes several stops on St. Croix in 2009. The line has not announced whether it will return to the big island.
