The Modern Music Feature CD is "Mudcrutch" by Mudcrutch. Tom Petty is a member of this group, which also includes Benmont Tench from the Heartbreakers. The sound is more country oriented than the Heartbreakers with solid, well-written songs that are probably best categorized as Americana rock.
The Indie Spotlight CD is Gann Brewer's self-titled CD. Gann spent some time living on St. John and has a fine album of original songs, which includes a tune written by St. John singer-songwriter Ike Eichenberg.
We play new music from Jackie Greene, the Waifs, Alejandro Escovedo, Kenny Blues Boss Wayne, Los Fabulocos and more.
We also play music from B.B. King, Elvis Presley, Pinetop Perkins, St. Johnian Ike Eichenberg, John Cowan, the Sean Carney Band and more.
We celebrate the birthdays of John Cowan, Arthur Big Boy Crudup, Jeb Loy Nichols, Jim Capaldi of Traffic and Eliza Gilkyson.
We include music from Janiva Magness, who will headline the St. John Blues Festival in 2009.
We also include music from Barefoot Davis and his band as well as Outlaws in Paradise, who performed live at the St. Thomas Chili Cook-Off on August 17.
