Innovative Awards Grants to Two V.I. Charities

Aug. 6, 2008 – Innovative has awarded $1,000 each to two local charitable organizations through the Caribbean Cable and Telecommunications Association (CCTA). The Queen Louise Home of St. Croix and the Humane Society of St. Thomas are the two recipients from the association's 2008 Community Charities Program. Innovative Cable TV St. Thomas-St. John, a member of the CCTA and the cable and telecommunications provider for St. Thomas and St. John, nominated the Humane Society of St. Thomas for the grant.
"These two organizations were chosen as grant recipients because of the outstanding service and assistance they provide to the community," said Innovative's Cable TV President Jennifer Matarangas-King.
The CCTA's Community Charities Program, which was established in 1993, has awarded nearly $190,000 to Caribbean charities during its existence. The program originally awarded 10 grants per year. However, over the years, interest in the program has grown substantially. All 19 of the 2008 nominees are worthy organizations, so the association's board of directors voted unanimously to award grants to all.
