WAPA Rations Water of Public Housing Residents

Dear Source:
To All Residents of Public Housing Communities:
I am fully aware of the water shortage and that WAPA is forced to ration the water. However, it has been brought to my attention that the water rationing is only affecting the residents of public housing and some of the government agencies after business hours.
I also have knowledge that when WAPA is contacted to inquire how long the water rationing will be in effect and the reason why, you are immediately transferred to the Line Department only to hear the rationing of water only applies to the residents of public housing and we waste water because we get it for free. Additionally, we are running Laundromats and car wash out of our apartments and WAPA have to take care of their paying customers first.
Although we the residents of public housing do not pay a water bill directly to WAPA, the Virgin Islands Housing Authority pays for the water used by its residents. Therefore, we should be treated like any other paying customer.
Fellow residents I am pleading with you to make contact with our elected leaders and inform them of our plight with this chronic situation. We deserve better. We should not be treated any less because we are public housing residents.
A concerned resident of Public Housing.
Idita Peters
