Man Dies After Shooting at Oswald Harris Court

July 31, 2008 — Two hours after he was transported to the hospital Thursday, 23-year-old Kamal Percell died of multiple gunshot wounds to the back and chest.
Reports of a shooting brought police to the Oswald Harris Court Housing Community on St. Thomas at approximately 2:02 a.m. Thursday. They found Percell suffering from at least five gunshot wounds, according to a V.I. Police Department news release.
Residents with any information on the shooting are urged to call the department's Major Crime Unit at 715-5545, 715-5546, 715-5543 or emergency 911. St. Thomas-St. John Police Chief Rodney Querrard can also be reached at 715-5548.
"The community and police need to work together in making sure that criminals with illegal firearms are arrested, and that the weapons are taken off the street," Querrard said in the release. "It is a shame that our young people are dying so often, and a lot of times for no reason at all. This has to stop. Please don't wait until the victim of one of these senseless killings is one of your relatives or loved ones."
