Miller Resigns from New Post as Florida Hospital Administrator

July 31, 2008 — Rodney E. Miller Sr. has resigned from his post as administrator of Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., according to a media representative.
"He resigned yesterday, for personal reasons," Marla Oxenhandler, spokeswoman for the Memorial Health Care System, said early Thursday morning. Few other details are known at this point, but the hospital may be putting out a statement regarding Miller's resignation in the future, she said.
Miller formally stepped down from his position as chief executive officer for St. Thomas' Schneider Regional Medical Center last September and news that he had been officially tapped to lead Memorial Regional was posted on the hospital's website a little more six months ago.
Miller — along with two other Schneider Regional top executives and unnamed members of the hospital's governing board — was recently the focus of a joint federal and local audit that revealed widespread financial mismanagement at the medical center.
