June 21, 2008 — Noel Chaparro, 20, was arrested by police Friday and charged with first-degree murder in the June 15 shooting death of 29-year-old Imelda Wells.
Wells was killed at approximately 4 a.m., in a grassy lot adjacent to a nightclub on St. Croix, according to a recent V.I. Police Department statement. Witnesses said Wells and another person were in the nightclub's parking lot when they were approached by one or more individuals. One of them shot Wells in the face, police said.
Wells was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix medical examiner, Dr. D'Michelle Dupre.
Chaparro is being held on $250,000 bail pending an advice of rights hearing.
