Another Homicide Logged on St. Thomas

June 17, 2008 – Police were called to Lower Kronprindsens Gade late Monday night where they found an unresponsive, unidentified man lying on a staircase surrounded by spent bullet cartridges.
He had been shot multiple times.
Police, who arrived at the scene at 11:27 p.m.in response to a report of shots fired found the man, wearing black pants, white shirt and white sneakers. Police have not said if he was dead at the scene.
It is the third homicide in the last four days where police could not immediately identify the deceased. Police are in the process of contacting the next of kin to provide positive identification, according to a statement from the V.I. Police Department.
And Police spokeswoman Melody Rames said Tuesday, "The police believe they may know the identify of the other two victims … but have not released the names until next of kin can positively identify them."
She said close family members had been or were off island, which had slowed the identification process.
