Coach Paradise: Randy Husband Ruined Friendship with Couple

Dear Coach Paradise,
I am a single woman. Recently I met and befriended a married couple. I was really excited about participating in community-oriented programs with them and just socializing. All of a sudden the wife of the couple started treating me rudely. I chalked it up to she must be tired, then the husband started hitting on me, hard. I figured the wife must've known what was up before I did. Now I feel as if I have to pull away from both of them, and am saddened.
I feel funny about going to the community events where I will see them — and resentful, too. I don't know what to do.
Bummed in Paradise
Dear Bummed,
What a bummer — a new friendship gone seedy so fast. It's hard to tell about people until you get to know them better. As disappointing as it may be, it highlights how strong your desire is for connection and friendship. You attracted this couple who were interesting and with whom you wanted to pursue a friendship. This is good. It's you, heading downstream (in the right direction), manifesting versions of what you want until you get it right. What if it could only get better? What if these friends are the appetizer for the great relationships and communities that await you?
You might feel awkward going to community events where they are. I hope you won't let this stop you. If you can keep your vibration high — i.e. keep finding the better-feeling thought and staying in a good-vibe place as much as possible — it won't matter what they do. Keep your focus on what you want — to contribute and be part of communities, and to feel good. Those are the most important things to keep in mind.
What would the lesson be in this situation if every situation occurs for our benefit and growth? This line of thought is infinitely more productive than a focus on the bummer.
To connection, community and true friendship,
Coach Paradise
