PTSA Seeks Volunteers to Join Board and Committees

June 5, 2008 – The U.S. Virgin Islands Congress of Parents, Teachers, Students Association Inc. (USVI PTSA) has recently undergone reorganization. Due to a vacancy in the office of the president, Deborah Adams-Gonzales is now the sitting president. Gonzales states that she hopes to empower parents to become a powerful voice for children and to be a strong advocate for public education. With the help of volunteers, she desires to build on the work of the USVI PTSA to be a relevant resource for parents. National PTA President Jan Harp Domene has also promised the continued support of the national organization in making sure the local organization receives guidance and resources to help make its work on behalf of all children successful.
The USVI PTSA is presently seeking volunteers from local PTAs and the community on St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas and Water Island for appointment to the board and/or committees. All references are required to be a member of a National PTA affiliated local unit in good standing. If you are or know of interested candidates who are willing to work for all children, contact the USVI PTSA at usvi_pres@pta.org or 344-9973.
