CCT Presents Neil Simon Comedy

May 9, 2008 – Caribbean community Theatre is presenting "Last of the Red Hot Lovers," which opens this Friday, May 9, for a three-week run. Performances will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings, at 8 p.m., May 9-10, 16-17, and 23-24, with a Sunday matinee at 4 p.m., on May 18.
The Neil Simon comedy is about Barney Cashman, a 47-year-old owner of a fish restaurant, who decides he should join the sexual revolution before it passes him by. His quest for success as an adulterer is hampered by his inexperience and his less than forceful personality, but he doggedly pursues a flaunting sexpot with a fondness for cigarettes and whiskey, then a kooky actress, and finally a sternly driven moralist.
"Mr. Simon has created a great character here…It is extraordinarily funny and yet also charming . . . He is as witty as ever, perhaps wittier." N.Y. Times.
"Delightfully hilarious and witty, as well as filled with wisdom about human nature…An uproariously funny author. But he is far more than that. He has a mellow and compassionate understanding of how weak and essentially well meaning mankind behaves…A genuinely brilliant play." N.Y. Post.
It is directed by Christine Thomas and stars Bruce Spector, Linda Gabarra, Nicole Gariepy and Tricia Storie.
All performances will be held at the CCT, No. 18 Estate Orange Grove, in Christiansted. Tickets are sold at the door: $15 for adults and $8 for students. No reservations; arrive early for best seating. This show is not recommended for children under age 13.
