Water Island Classical Music Festival Unveils New Piano

May 7, 2008 – The Water Island Classical Music Festival will hold a special concert on Friday, May 16, at Providence Point, Water Island. They will be celebrating the unveiling of their new concert grand piano with a special concert by New York artists Julian Gargiulo and Maria Yefimova.
The festival has been producing concerts for three years using an old Hardman-Peck piano, but now it has purchased a brand new one that will be inaugurated by Garguilo and Yefimova, who will perform a special concert to benefit the piano.
Since the festival now owns two pianos, they are going to try something new. They will perform piano concertos with Yefimova playing the orchestra part on the old piano and Garguiulo performing the piano part on the new piano.
They will play Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" and some ultra hot Scriabin along with other classical music favorites. This new world-class piano was a reserve piano for the Metropolitan Opera Company. It was on stage at the Met for three years and the sound is out of this world.
There will be special ferry service to Water Island at 7 p.m., and a return ferry to St. Thomas at 10:15 p.m. All Water Island Classical Music Festival concerts are free, but music lovers can bring a donation for the piano fund.
