Botanical Garden Will Hold 'Second Saturdays' Program

On May 10, St. George Village Botanical Garden's "Second Saturdays" program will look at flowering plants that produce seeds.
From 9 a.m. to noon, on the second Saturday of each month, SGVBG board member Marilyn Chakroff conducts botanically related workshops to inspire local children and their parents to be more aware of the role plants play in our lives.
Most of the plants in the world are flowering plants that produce seeds. But what is a seed? How does it form? How does a seed get from one place to another to grow? In this workshop, participants will collect seeds on the garden grounds, then examine many kinds of seeds with magnifying lenses, and learn what is inside a seed. They will plant some seeds in pots and take them home to find out what plant emerges.
Space for the workshops is limited, so please call 692-2874 to register to ensure a place; if you have signed up and cannot attend, please call the SGVBG because there is always a wait list for the workshops.
Adults must be accompanied by a child. The payment of $5 per person can be made on Saturday morning.
