Pistarckle Theatre Summer Camp Will Prepare Kids for Musical

April 15, 2008 – This year Pistarckle Theater's summer camp production will be "Willy Wonka Jr." Registration for the camp is at 7 p.m., on WEdnesday, May 16. Camp will begin after school from 3:30-6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 2-6. Full-day camp will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 9 through July 11. Performances of the musical will be held July 9-13.
Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory," which features the songs from the classic family film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," including "Pure Imagination." Eight male and eight female leads are needed, plus two others feature performers. The young people will also be creating the factory lands and machinery. All children 8 years-and-older are invited to participate.
Auditions for the summer show will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, May 31, for individuals prepared with a song and a monologue. The children should be prepared to stay for group callbacks, including dancing and reading from the script, on the same day from 3-6 p.m. To register, call 775-7877.
Lauren Brody-Stewart will be teaching an Art of Auditioning class, which is back by popular demand. Last year's class made everyone shine in their auditions for the summer show. The class will take place from 3:30-6:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, May 27-30. It will prepare students for any audition but will specifically work with the summer show characters as class examples. Tuition for the class is $55. To register for the class, call 775-7877.
Pistarckle Theater, in co-operation with VI University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, is offering scholarships to children with disabilities to participate in their summer camps. There are limited scholarships available, and they are subject to auditions. Call 775-7877.
