Soldier Boy Handicap Featured Sunday on Nine-Race Card

April 11, 2008 — The horses will be off and running Sunday at the Randall "Doc" James racetrack on a nine-race, well-matched card put together by TRAXCO.
The day's featured eight race will be the Soldier Boy Handicap, run in honor of Roy Vialet at a distance of 7.5 furlongs. Carson Secrets (119), who is on a five-race winning streak, will be challenged by the speedy Zirito (113), the late-running Gasllego (117), the fast-improving Black Jack Bob (114), and Strongpasser, carrying a weight of 115.
In his last race, Carson Secrets came from off the pace to win going away at the wire. Black Jack Bob, with his best showing since coming back from an injury, was second in that race. Gallego also ran a good race and should be in the mix here.
The other race that fans will key on is the sixth, run at a distance of one mile for class E thoroughbreds. In that race, sensational native-born filly Guava Berry Star (113) will tackle a field of imports, many of whom she defeated her last time out. She will be challenged by Honor Bonus (115), who closed with a rush in her last race and almost got by Guava Berry Star at the wire. Also contesting that race will be Family Deelite (114), Caribbean Colony (114), Villa Oro (114), Cat Hunter (114), Prospector Fever (115), Sarazen Blade and Strong Passer.
