St. John Singers to Give Spring Concert

April 7, 2008 – The St. John Singers will present their annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m., on Sunday, April 13, at Emmaus Moravian Church.
The featured guest artist is Lawrence O. “Larry” Benjamin, the former director of the Caribbean Chorale and the National Guard Band. A baritone known for his rich and steady voice, Benjamin will sing “The Lord’s Prayer” and several other solos. He will also conduct the choir singing one of his original compositions, an arrangement of the text of the 23rd Psalm.
It’s appropriate that Benjamin should perform in Coral Bay, according to choir director John Cahill. “He has family there; he used to play there when he was young. Guy Benjamin is his godfather,” Cahill said.
The choir will perform spirituals, folksongs and selections by American composers, including Norman Dello Joio and Leonard Bernstein.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students and will be available at the door.
