Brady, Felix Propel Thymes to Victory

Dec. 8, 2007 — Jennifer Brady supplied the arm and Rochelle Felix provide the offense as they powered the Thymes by Player’s Choice, 8-5, in game one of the Quarren Schjang Women’s softball league finals.
Brady scattered five hits over seven innings and allowed only one run over the first four innings. Felix gave her ample support, with a three-hit, three-RBI night at the plate.
After both teams failed to score in the first inning, the Thymes got on the board in the top of the second with two runs on an RBI double by Felix and an RBI single off the bat of Lisa Thomas to take the early lead.
Pat Smith's RBI single in the bottom of the third got the Players Choice on the board and they trailed 2-1 after three innings as the Thymes failed to score in the top of the inning.
The Thymes extended their lead to three at 4-1 after four innings, with two runs in the top of the fourth, as the Player’s Choice failed to score in the bottom of the inning. They plated two runs on an RBI triple by Felix and a fielder’s choice.
The Player’s Choice then had their best offensive output in the bottom of the fifth after the Thymes failed to score in the top of the inning to tie the game at four. They scored three runs on RBI ground-outs by Arlene Santiago and Melissa Schjang and four Thymes errors.
The Thymes put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth with four run on RBI singles by Akeema Edwards and Gelisa James and two Player’s Choice errors to now lead 8-4. Player’s Choice had no answer in the bottom of the inning.
After the Thymes failed to score in the top of the seventh, the Player’s Choice needed to come up big in their last at bat to pull out the victory. They, however, were only able to come up with an unearned run in the bottom of the inning and they went down in defeat by a final score of 8-5.
Brady pitched the win for the Thymes, while the Player’s Choice ace, Marie Encarnacion, got the loss. Top hitters for the Thymes were, Felix, 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Thomas, 2 for 4 with one RBI, and James was 1 for 3. For the Player’s Choice, Smith was 2 for 3 with one RBI, Schjang, 1 for 3 with one RBI, and Renee Hansen was 1 for 3.
