Santa Claus Flying in to Yacht Haven Grande for Pet Photos

Dec. 3, 2007 — Calling all dogs and cats and — well, most anything else: birds, rabbits, gerbils, ferrets, iguanas. Santa is beckoning you to come have your picture taken with him.
And for your owners, there will be a free wine tasting while you have your photo session at How 'Bout Your Pet from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 9 and 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Yacht Haven Grande shop.
"There are so few places on the island to take your pet," says owner Stacy Cohen. "This is an opportunity to bring your pets out and have some fun."
Since the shop opened in late September 2003, it has become the social center for the island's pampered canine elite. The dogs have social events just for themselves, eat such treats as doggie burgers and generally have a grand time.
The shop moved from International Plaza to its newer, larger and fancier Yacht Haven digs earlier this year. It is likely the liveliest enterprise on the island, bursting with color and imagination. It's filled to the chops with pet paraphernalia: T-shirts, stuffed animals, interactive toys, sport-team jackets, island wear, bowls, pet carriers, comfortable pet bedding, pet jewelry and dog- and cat-themed jewelry.
Photos of Santa with the pets — or with the whole family — will be printed on site and ready to take home, Cohen says. For any questions, call her at 777-1130.
