Essence Magazine Columnist to Speak at Business Expo

Nov. 26, 2007 — The editorial director of Essence magazine, Susan L. Taylor, will be the guest speaker at the St. Croix Business Expo 2007 reception, Business in Paradise After Dark.
The expo begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Zizzlers in Christiansted.
Taylor offers messages of hope that encourage reclaiming and reorienting lives and society to create peaceful, productive and sustainable communities, according to a news release announcing the event. She writes the "In the Spirit" column for Essence each month.
The speaker is the author of three books: In the Spirit: The Inspirational Writings of Susan L. Taylor, Lessons in Living and Confirmation and The Spiritual Wisdom That Has Shaped Our Lives.
The Integrity Group, a subsidiary of Integrity Women In Business Center, is hosting the expo.
The center's mission is to provide V.I. businesses with increased opportunities — providing clients with technical assistance, leads, contacts, network exposure and help achieving specific goals. It works to do so by bringing together government, businesses, vendors and others in events such as the expo. The group hopes to stimulate and promote economic growth on St. Croix.
There will be refreshments, door prizes and networking, with Friday's event concluding at 10 p.m.
Continuing Saturday will be a business fair at Sunny Isle amphitheater, with an opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony by Gov. John deJongh Jr. at 10 a.m.
There will be quadrille dance performance from 11 a.m. to noon. Also on the schedule is a fashion show from 3 to 4 p.m., and the Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. This will be an opportunity for local business to exhibit and promote goods and services. There will be games, raffles and giveaways.
