The Player's Choice Doubles Up Thymes 10-5 in Women's Softball

Nov. 19, 2007 — The Player's Choice blasted the Thymes 10-5 Sunday in Quarren Schjang women's softball behind a strong pitching effort from Marie Encarnacion.
Encarnacion scattered nine hits over seven innings in recording the win. Jennifer Brady got the loss for the Thymes.
The Player's Choice picked up a run in the top of the first on an RBI single off the bat of Pat Smith to take the early lead. The Thymes were equal to the task in the bottom of the inning, tying the game at one on Shay Roberts' RBI double.
The Player's Choice retook the lead at 4-1 in the top of the second on a bases-loaded, base-clearing triple by Smith. The Thymes had no answer this time, and they trailed 4-1 after two innings of play.
After a scoreless third inning, the Thymes knotted the game at four after the Player's Choice failed to score in the top of the inning. The Thymes scored three runs on a two-run triple by Helena Edwards and an error by the Player's Choice second baseman.
The score would stay that way until the top of the fifth, when the Player's Choice scored four runs to take the lead for good at 8-4. They scored on a three-run triple by Ida Fauche and a Thymes error. The Thymes had no answer in the bottom of the inning.
A two-run single by Amire Santiago in the top of the sixth closed out the scoring for the Player's Choice and extended their lead to six at 10-4. The Thymes again failed to score in the bottom of the inning.
The Thymes scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to close out the scoring for the game.
Top hitters for the Player's Choice were Smith, 2 for 3 with four RBIs; Santiago, 2 for 3 with two RBIs; and Fuche, 1 for 3 with three RBIs. For the Thymes, Brady went 2 for 4 and Roberts went 2 for 4 with one RBI.
