Blue Bay Jazz Fest Schedule

Nov. 11, 2007 – Thirteen years after Hurricane Marilyn blew away St. Croix's Jazz and Caribbean Music and Arts Festival, jazz is coming back to the big island in a big way this month with the new Blue Bay Jazz Fest
The New Orleans-themed festival will feature several acclaimed performers, such as veterans Donald Harrison Jr. and Henry Butler, and young guns Christian Scott and Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. It will be held Nov. 15 through 18, with opening events in Christiansted and main-stage performances in Frederiksted.
Thursday, Nov. 15
9:30 p.m.: Tutto Bene Café, Christiansted ~ WWOZ-Tutto Bene Jazz Fest Kick Off
Pier 69: St. Croix's favorite Old School/R&B hotspot where a party can happen faster than you can say "Mango Margarita!" ~ Eddie Russell and the Quelbe Latin Jazz Band
Friday, Nov. 16
5:30 p.m. Jazz Fest Opening Celebrations
6 p.m.: New Orleans Trumpet Summit ~ Kermit Ruffins, James "12" Andrews, Christian Scott, Marlon Jordan and Troy Andrews
7:30 p.m.: New Orleans piano legend Henry Butler
9 p.m.: The classy lady of jazz: Stephanie Jordan and the Jordan Family
10:30 p.m.: Pier 69 ~ Eddie Russell and the Quelbe Latin Jazz Band
Blue Moon: "Where Jazz has a Home!" ~ Rhythmix Jazz Band
Sand Bar: Voted the Daily News' "Best Beach Bar!" ~ Culture Vibe
11 p.m.: Mainstage, Frederiksted Waterfront ~ Stanley and The Ten Sleepless Knights, World's Premiere Quelbe Band Eliza McBean, Clock Tower, Don Moors Ensemble – Caribbean Jazz band headed by one of the top vibes men around.
Saturday, Nov. 17
11 a.m.: Crucian Creole Cajun Food Fair at Frederik Beach Park ~ extraordinary cooks from St. Croix and New Orleans will showcase their culinary specialties to the delight of any palate! Enjoy tons of fabulous food, music by Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights.
Noon: Art and Wine Walk on the Strand ~ stroll the Frederiksted Strand while experiencing the works of some of the premiere artists in the Caribbean. Wines featured by the Blue Moon and Pier 69
5:30 p.m.: Mini Carnivale Parade and Opening Party, featuring Carnivale King and Queen of the Bands, troupes, mocko jumbies, street dancers and fun, fun, fun!
6 p.m.: Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave. Band
7:30 p.m. ~ Grammy nominee Christian Scott
9 p.m.: JAZZIZ 2007 Person of the Year Donald Harrison Jr.
10:30 p.m.: BeachSide Café @ Sand Castle on the Beach Hotel ~ Jazz by the Sea
Pier 69 ~ Eddie Russell and the Quelbe Latin Jazz Band
Blue Moon: "Where Jazz has a Home!" ~ Rhythmix Jazz Band
Sand Bar: Voted the Daily News' "Best Beach Bar!" ~ DJ Karl
11 p.m.: Mainstage, Frederiksted Waterfront ~ Digital Band–Dance with one of the Islands hottest Calypso Bands!
Buddhoe Park Bandstand ~ Root 1 Reggae Band–featuring Crucian Summer star Maria Carmona
Sunday, Nov.18
9:30 a.m.: St. Croix Reformed Church ~ non-denominational Jazz Vespers Music Worship Service with Stephanie Jordan and Family
10 a.m.: Pier 69 Old Time Crucian Breakfast Buffet w/Open Mic performances
10:30am: Beachside Cafe @ Sandcastle on the Beach Hotel Jazz Brunch, featuring the Bobby Richards Band
11:00am: Blue Moon Jazz Brunch
Noon: Jazz on the Bay, Cane Bay, St. Croix ~ festivities, treasure hunts, live music, beach parties and more. Hosted by the businesses of Cane Bay and St. Croix's own Krewe de Croix.
Noon: Divi Carina Bay Beach and Pool Side Party! Pool-side barbeque, beach party, kayak races and much more!
2 p.m.: Christiansted Jazz Crawl: the Town of Christiansted's restaurants, retailers and bars will feature shopping specials, New Orleans cuisine specials, live music and finale festivities to the Jazz Fest experience!
