Call Has Gone out for Ag Fair Cooks

Nov. 8, 2007 – Island cooks are invited to cook up their best sweet breads, ital dishes and maubi for the St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture Fair as the annual event celebrates the 25th anniversary from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 17 and 18, at the UVI Reichhold Center for the Arts.
The event traditionally brings the community together with fun and frolic – animals, vegetables and food, food, food. The recent rains have been a boon to farmers who will bring squashes, eggplants – all manner of produce – along with the pies, cakes, fresh eggs, pates and most anything else that can be eaten or drunk
Island cooks must register by Monday for this year's competition, which will be rewarded with cash prizes and ribbons. There will be three winners in each category. The deadline to enter is Monday. Entrants should register with Faye James at the V. I. Department of Agriculture, 774-5182 a co-sponsor of the fair.
