Wyatt Heat, Stealers, Cartel Record Slow Pitch Softball Wins

Nov. 6, 2007 — The Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League kicked off its 2007-2008 season Monday night with three scheduled games.
In game one defending champions Wyatt Heat picked up right where they left off by crushing Speak the Word 15-5.
It was Wyatt Heat, 15 runs on 16 hits with two errors, and Speak the Word had five runs on nine hits and they also committed two errors. David Oetken got the win on the mound for the Heat, while Ulric Benjamin picked up the loss.
Top hitters for the Heat were Dwayne Harvey, 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Dexter DeSouza went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. For Speak the Word, Martin Charles, Jose Berrios and Dexter Skepple were all 1 for 2 with a home run and one RBI each.
In game two, former champs Seaborne Stealers also came out firing on all cylinders as they hammered Anchor Dive 18-8. The Stealers had 18 runs on 21 hits while committing three errors, while Anchor Dive had eight runs on 15 hits and committed two errors.
Stealers ace Samuel Ramos pitched the win, while Mario Simmonds got the loss for Anchor Dive. Top hitters for the stealers were Enrique Soto, 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs, and Freddie Pimentel was 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs. For Anchor Dive, leandro Reyes was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Mario Simmonds was 2 for 3 with one RBI.
In game three, the Cartel outlasted the National Guard Hummers by a score of 13-12. It was the Cartel with 13 runs on 15 hits with three errors, while the Hummers had 12 runs on 16 hits with three errors.
James Smith pitched the win for the Cartel, while Leonard Frett got the loss for the Hummers. Top hitters for the Cartel were Daren Lewis, 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs, and Smith was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. For the Hummers, Sylvester Blake was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Dennis Carter was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
