Oct. 23, 2007 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28. This Sunday we will feature music by Carla Thomas, Buddy Flett, Elvis Presley, Nappy Brown, Diunna Greenleaf, Duke Robillard and more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is "Live at the Bohemian Caverns" by Carla Thomas. Back in 1967 Memphis soul-singer Carla Thomas recorded this CD at a club in Washington, D.C. before an audience consisting of music industry professionals. Carla sings a combination of the great standards and also sings a number of her hits. This is the first time this concert has been released to the public.
The Indie Spotlight CD is Buddy Flett's "Mississippi Sea," a fine release featuring some great Southern acoustic blues.
We play new music from Duke Robillard, blues and R&B vocalist Nappy Brown, Popa Chubby and more.
We also play music from Lucinda Williams, Albert Collins, Son Volt, Elvis Presley, Buddy Miller and more. We celebrate the birthdays of Wayne Fontana of British Invasion, hit makers the Mindbenders, the late Ted Hawkins, and Linford Detweiler of Over the Rhine.
We include music from blues and gospel artist Diunna Greenleaf, who will be performing at the St. John Christmas Festival on Dec. 2.
We give away a CD of great Afro Pop from Habib Koite and a CD from singer-songwriter Barb Ryman. We also give away an excellent two-disc retrospective of the career of Waylon Jennings.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker; Molly Molones; and St. Thomas Radiology Associates.
